One of our favorite spring activities is strawberry picking at Washington Farms, a local strawberry farm. The kids love running up and down the rows, filling up their buckets and sneaking a few of the fresh-off-the-vine-strawberries. After a few minutes, their clothes and fingers are stained with strawberry juice. And of course, I love cooking and baking with the berries. Strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry salad, strawberries with cream, strawberry jam bars – the yummy possibilities are endless!
Any time we go berry picking, it always makes me think of Graham’s favorite book – Jamberry. It was one of my favorites as a child, too, and we still have my old copy. The rhymes are super cute and I love the illustrations. The book always makes me hungry for berries!
Graham even dressed up at the Jamberry boy for preschool on “dress like your favorite book character day.”
This year, we did our strawberry picking on a Saturday so we could enjoy their “Super Spring Saturday” activities. There was so much to do! Wagon rides, a petting zoo, a cow train, a jumping pillow, a couple of slides, a corn box, and tons of other super fun things!
We had a blast!
Do you go berry picking with your family?
