Review of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Studios Orlando

Review of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Studios Orlando | sunshineandholly.com

Back in February, Josh and I took a kid-free weekend trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. We decided to stay at one of Universal’s on-property resorts, Loews Sapphire Falls. We were flying down and wouldn’t have a car, and we wanted to take advantage of Sapphire Falls complimentary transportation to the parks. The Sapphire Falls Resort is a moderately-priced resort that looked beautiful from the pictures on the website. We were really impressed with the hotel and would definitely stay there again!

We didn’t bring the good camera, so these are all pics from my phone. Lesson learned. Next time I’m bringing the Cannon!

The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort is Caribbean themed, and the decor and amenities are great!  Our room was calm and inviting and there were lots of Caribbean details. Check out this video I took when we checked in:

Recap of Our Kid-Free Trip to Helen

By on May 10, 2018

Last weekend, the hubs and I were able to sneak away for a quick overnight trip to Helen, GA. My in-laws kept the kiddos and we enjoyed having some kid-free time to explore and relax! I’ve really been needing a break lately from the monotony of motherhood – the never-ending clean, drive, play, wipe, cook, argue, repeat!

Helen is a cute, quaint little German-themed town in North Georgia. It was a bigger tourist destination back in the 80’s, but these days it’s pretty quiet. Although it still can get crowded during the weekend! We love Helen because it’s a quick drive from Atlanta, and it has some beautiful scenic places to explore along the river, along with a few great places to hike.

After dumping…er…dropping the kids off with my in-laws, we headed up to Helen and checked in at the hotel. We’ve stayed at a few places around town, but this time we tried out the Hampton Inn. It was clean and newly renovated, and we had a beautiful view of the river from our balcony!

Another thing I love about Helen is that it’s small enough that you can pretty much walk everywhere. After checking in the hotel, we strolled through town to one of our favorite places to eat, The Troll Tavern. It’s the perfect place for a cold drink and some tasty German food. We love eating here during the summer. If you sit outside, you can watch people tubing down the river. The perfect spot for people watching!

A few weeks ago, Maddie got into a bottle of olive oil I had left out on the counter, along with a lemon and some salt. I’d just finished making a marinade for a steak we were planning on grilling that night and hadn’t had a chance to clean everything up yet. I left Maddie alone for 5 minutes while I went to do some other chore. When I walked back in the kitchen, I saw that she had poured out a ton of olive oil into a cup, squeezed lemon juice all over it, and sprinkled a ton of salt. She was covered in oil!

5 on a Friday – Things I’m Loving

By on April 13, 2018

Happy Friday! This week was surprisingly tough considering my kids were back to school after over a week of spring break. Lots of tantrums, fighting, and disobedience! Guess they were just getting used to being back in their routine. I also had to fire my cleaning people (I know, I know – privileged people problems) and haven’t hired anyone else yet. My house is gross. Maddie peed all over the couch during a nap AND I washed and dried a red crayon with a load of laundry! Ug!

So I’m SUPER glad it’s almost the weekend. We’ll be busy with t-ball, a birthday party, lunch with friends, and (hopefully) taking some family pictures. (It’s supposed to rain Sunday, so we’ll see!) What do you have planned for the weekend?

Here are a few things I’ve been loving this week:

5 on a Friday – Things I’m Loving

1. Bagels and Lox

Josh and I have both been on a bagel kick lately. We love them with lox and cream cheese, or just a smear of avocado. Such a great breakfast or lunch! And this seasoning blend – soooo good!

2. Sensual Strut Body Lotion

I discovered this lotion two years ago when I was better at keeping up with my waxing appointments. TMI? Anyway, I just recently popped back into the European Wax Center and grabbed a bottle of the Sensual Strut Lotion. I LOVE how it smells!

3. Listening to Audible books

I downloaded a book to listen to during the car ride for my girls trip to Savannah this past weekend, and it really helped pass the time. I usually get car sick when I try to read in the car, so audible books are perfect. I’ve been listening to The Wife Between Us. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far I like it! 4. Easy Lunches

I threw together this easy lunch the other day, and it was actually super tasty! I tossed some bagged broccoli slaw in a pan with coconut oil, cracked two eggs in, threw in some leftover chicken, and added some coconut aminos and sesame oil. It really hit the spot and was Whole 30 approved.

5. All the Sunshine

The weather here has been perfect lately. All the sunshine and warmer weather’s got me wanting to spend all day outside!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
