Back in February, Josh and I took a kid-free weekend trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. We decided to stay at one of Universal’s on-property resorts, Loews Sapphire Falls. We were flying down and wouldn’t have a car, and we wanted to take advantage of Sapphire Falls complimentary transportation to the parks. The Sapphire Falls Resort is a moderately-priced resort that looked beautiful from the pictures on the website. We were really impressed with the hotel and would definitely stay there again!

We didn’t bring the good camera, so these are all pics from my phone. Lesson learned. Next time I’m bringing the Cannon!

The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort is Caribbean themed, and the decor and amenities are great!  Our room was calm and inviting and there were lots of Caribbean details. Check out this video I took when we checked in:

Since our trip was a quick weekend getaway, we didn’t have time to check out the pool. But it looked awesome! There are cabanas to rent, a water slide, and a kid’s play area.

There are several dining options at Sapphire Falls, and we were able to check out a couple of them in between our time at the parks. Friday evening we went to the Caribbean Carnaval, an outdoor interactive dinner show. It was a blast! The buffet meal was delicious and there was tons of food to choose from. The music was great, and there was even dancing at the end of the night. The price of the meal also included wine, beer, and Planters Punch. I highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re traveling with a big group. So fun!

After the carnival, we stopped by the Strong Water Tavern for one more drink before turning in for the night. The cocktails we ordered were delicious! We also ate breakfast one morning at Amatista Cookhouse. The service was excellent and the breakfast buffet was yummy!

The transportation to the parks from the hotel was perfect. We’re huge Disney fans, but will admit that the Disney bus system is pretty annoying. The buses are crowded and the wait times can be long. But at the Sapphire Falls Resort, they have a water taxi that takes you over to City Walk (which is right next to the Universal Parks). The wait times were never long, and the boat ride was a nice break, especially after walking the parks all day.

The hotel was also relatively quiet, but that may have been because we were there during the off-season. Overall, we had a great time on our trip, and our stay at the Sapphire Falls Resort was one of the reasons we had such an enjoyable time!

Have you been to Universal Studios? Where do you stay when you travel to Orlando?
