A Love Letter to My Village

By on July 24, 2017

Motherhood is tough. Motherhood is messy. Motherhood has kicked my booty. The first few years are some of the hardest. So much crying (both me and the babies!) and the never ending cycle of feed, burp, change diaper, rock to sleep, over and over and over and over. Then there’s the whining, the tantrums, the constant questions, the potty training, the messes…it’s enough to drive a person completely crazy or send them into a dark depression!

So what gets us through it? (Besides lots of coffee and wine.) What is the light, the breath of fresh air, the hope for all the lonely, tired, lost mamas out there?

It’s our village – the group of women and men surrounding us, lifting us up, encouraging us, and helping out during some of the most difficult years of our life. Every mom needs her village, and I’ve been so blessed with mine. There have been so many people over the years who’ve been a rock, a shoulder to cry on, an inspiration, a light.

And I just wanted to take a minute to thank them.

Josh and I just got back from an amazing kid-free weekend in Nashville.

We explored, listened to music, shopped, and ate and drank until our bellies were full and our heads were tipsy. Nashville has so many amazing restaurants and bars, and we were pretty bummed we didn’t get to try out more. But there are only so many meals in a day! We’ll just have to go back soon. Here’s some of our favorite Nashville eats and drinks.

Spring is Here!

By on April 6, 2017

Spring isn’t my favorite season.

(Give me all the Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra, Flonase, and allergy eye drops…)

But I sure do love when the weather starts to get warm and the days start to get longer. We had a pretty mild winter this year, thankfully. I can’t handle cold weather with two kids. Being cooped up in the house day after day? Or putting on 15 layers of clothes to go outside for 5 minutes before the kiddos start whining to go back in? No thanks! I have no idea how moms up north do it. We need to be outside!

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago we were up in Athens for a birthday party and I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of the kids in their new spring clothes.

Back to Blogging

Lately, I’ve been feeling lost.

I’m staying home full-time with the kiddos. And I feel like I’ve turned into the stereotypical “desperate housewife.” A bored stay-at-home-mom.

I’ve just been feeling the need for something…extra in my life. Just…something. Something to occupy my mine. Something to work on, to work towards. A creative outlet.

And then I remembered I used to blog.
