It’s no surprise that I love to be outside, in the sunshine, with my kids. We love playing outside! There’s something about the fresh air, the green grass, and the natural light that makes my kids stop whining, fighting, crying, and complaining, and start playing nicely together. I know that any time my kids really start misbehaving, it’s probably because they need some attention and some playtime outside.

I’m all about letting kids run free and use their imaginations while they’re outside. My kids will find sticks, stones, acorns, leaves, mud, sand, (I could go on and on) to play with. But sometimes, having a few extra toys or activities for your kids while they’re outside can be helpful. Check out these 6 ideas for outdoor play that won’t break the bank.

1. Chalk

A box or two of chalk can provide hours of fun for your little artists. We love drawing things we see outside, like trees, the sun, or even a rainbow. My kids also love these sidewalk stencils and tracing each other with chalk.

2. Tricycles

If you’re savvy, you can find a new tricycle for around $30. Or, try looking at Goodwill or other consignment stores for slightly used tricycles and bikes. You’re kiddo can be wheeling around the driveway, giggling and laughing with the wind blowing through their hair.

3. Tire Swings

I remember how much fun I has as a kid swinging on the tire swing that my friend had in her yard. We’d swing it back and forth, and sometimes, we’d spin it around so we’d end up so dizzy that we’d fall down laughing. Those were the good old days! And you don’t have to buy ax expensive new tire for your swing. Check out Sandford and Son Junk Cars to find a great spare tire to use. They’re the premier buyer of junk cars in the metro Atlanta area and everyone that works for Sandford and Sons is a trusted, licensed, and insured employee. They’ve been buying cars in the metro Atlanta area for decades, and understand the importance of trust, comfort and safety in the process. It’s the perfect place to sell an old car, or find a perfect tire for your tire swing!

4. Bubbles

To quote the movie Knocked Up: “What’s so great about bubbles? I wish I liked anything as much as my kids like bubbles.” Seriously – kids go crazy over bubbles! Stock up too, because if your kids are anything like mine, they’ll spill the bubble solution after about 5 minutes of blowing bubbles.

5. Sandbox

Kids love playing in the sand! Our local Home Depot has sand for around $5 a bag, which is a deal.  Buy a bag or two, find a few sand tools at the Dollar Store, fill up an old tire from Sandford and Son Junk Cars with sand, and let your kids play. They’ll have tons of fun building and digging.

6. Water Table

My kids are big on sensory activities and love playing with water. You can find a decent water table for around $30, and it will provide hours of fun for your little ones!
