We received complimentary tickets to the Pirates Voyage Dinner Show and accommodations in Myrtle Beach in exchange for an honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
The Best Myrtle Beach Attraction for Families – The Pirates Voyage Dinner Show
We just got back from a super fun weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Josh and I had both been to Myrtle years ago, but this was our first time taking the kids. I did a lot of Pinterest research before we left to see what family-friendly attractions were offered near our condo, and the Pirates Voyage Dinner Show kept popping up over and over. The reviews made it seem like a blast and we were so excited to check it out!
(The show is also a Dolly Parton Production, so I knew it would be excellent!)
Here’s everything you need to know for your trip to the Pirates Voyage Dinner Show:
Make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time. There was a group in front of us when we entered the building and they were turned away because the show was sold out. So sad! It’s a popular show, and now that I’ve experienced it, I know why!
You should arrive at least an hour early so you have time to watch the preshow and explore. We actually arrived an hour and a half early, just to be safe. The preshow is so funny and really gets you in the swashbuckling mood!
There’s a gift shop with lots of fun pirate and mermaid merch, a bar with yummy drinks and snacks, and an area where your kiddos can be turned into a mermaid or pirate with some super fun facepaint and accessories!
Once the preshow is over, you’ll head upstairs and will be directed to your assigned seats for the show. All of the action during the show takes place in the indoor hideaway lagoon that’s flanked with two huge pirate ships.
The Meal:
During the show, you’ll dine on a four-course feast that includes a cup of Voyager Creamy Vegetable Soup, Buccaneer Bread, Half O’ Roasted Cackler (Chicken), Captain’s BBQ Pork, Cob O’ Buttery, Pirate Herb-basted Potato, and an Apple O’ Me Eye Pie. There’s unlimited Coca-Cola, tea, or coffee, and they even offer vegetarian & gluten-free meals! (Just make sure to mention any dietary needs when you book the tickets.)
The food was delicious and the kids had a ton of leftovers. Luckily, our waiter had some to-go bags so we could take home all of our leftovers. Our server was really great and I’m glad we thought to bring some cash to tip at the end of the meal.
The Show:
I don’t want to spoil all of the surprises that happen during the show – but it was absolutely amazing! There are acrobatics, tropical birds, the most adorable sea lion ever, swashbuckling pirates, and even mermaids! The show wasn’t scary at all to my 5-year-old and 7-year-old, but there’s one spooky scene and some pyrotechnics that might be a tiny bit scary for younger children. (Also note that while the facility is fully accessible for those with special needs, strollers are not allowed in the building.)
We made so many fun memories that evening! I think this would be such a fun thing to do during spring break or summer vacation. Make sure to check out the website for showtimes and to order tickets!
I’m not sure I have ever been to Myrtle Beach. When I go I will be sure and take in this show!!!
Let’s go together!
