Remember when I used to blog consistently? 😂 I didn’t mean to take the summer off from blogging, but I won’t lie and say I was upset about the break. It was some much-needed time off! I was already feeling uninspired and was in a creative rut near the end of the school year. And since our summer was so busy, I’m not going to let myself feel guilty about taking a break!
We actually had a really nice summer. The kids played well together, we spent a ton of time at the pool, I was able to prioritize working out and self-care, and I managed to NOT get sick on our beach vacation. (I tend to get sick every time we travel. More on that later…)
Here are some things we did this summer:
We kicked off summer with some fun van decorations and by building our first Build-a-Bear. Maddie made “Beariel” and Graham build “Bearser.”
We tried out the new pizza place near us that has a robot bring out your pizza.
We spent TONS of time at the pool.
I was able to sneak away for a few days for my first solo trip to Disney!
We drove down to St. Augustine for our annual beach trip.
While we were in Florida, Josh and I popped over to Disney for the day.
We hung out in town for the 4th of July and celebrated by watching fireworks with friends. We also participated in our neighborhood’s 4th of July Parade!
My dad found out he needed quintuple bypass surgery in July. It was a stressful time, but we’re so happy that he’s recovering well. (There was a beautiful sunrise outside of the hospital the morning of his surgery.)
The same week my dad had his surgery, Josh had to have gum grafting surgery. His recovery is also going well, but two surgeries in one week was a lot for our family!
I was able to relax a few weeks later during an all-day wine tasting and tour in North Georgia with some friends. We had a blast!
The kids and I had a few more adventures before Graham started school. We spent a day exploring Stone Mountain.
And spent another day checking out some new exhibits at Fernbank Museum.
Graham started school at the beginning of August. I can’t believe he’s in 1st grade!
I went to a body-positive pool party hosted by a couple of Atlanta bloggers in August. I met some amazing women!
I threw one of my sweet friends a baby sprinkle for her baby due in September.
I was sick on my birthday, but Maddie and Josh took me out to my favorite Thai place for lunch to celebrate.
We had parties for both of the kids’ birthdays. Maddie had a pool party on Saturday and Graham had a science party on Sunday.
I really wanted one last beach trip before the end of summer, so we packed up and drove to St. Simons for Labor Day weekend with my sister-in-law and her family. I was able to get a couple of hours of beach time before I ended up in the hospital needing an emergency appendectomy. I seriously have the worst luck with traveling. I always get sick! I spent a couple of days in the hospital and then we headed home. At least my kids had fun at the beach!
Maddie started school yesterday so I’m officially a school-empty-nester! I’ve been spending my first few free days recovering and healing from my surgery. Fun times!
Loved the pictures!
