Fun Things to Do on a Disney Cruise | Disney Cruise Recap

September 12, 2019

I was trying to think of a good way to share the rest of the photos from our Disney Cruise back in April, and I realized I could just do one long “photo-dump” blog post with all the pictures and title it “Fun Things to Do on a Disney Cruise.” Because literally, EVERYTHING on a Disney Cruise is super fun! From the shows to the food, to the pools, to the games – even just walking around the ship and exploring is SO much FUN! Really the only thing that wasn’t fun was the fact that I got tonsilitis on the second day and was sick with a fever and sore throat the rest of the trip. (SO not fair!) But despite my 101-degree fever, we still had a blast!

Here’s a list of all the fun things we loved while on our cruise.

Fun Things to Do on a Disney Cruise:

There are a few fun things to do even before you board the ship. We explored the terminal at Port Canaveral while we were waiting and found a few Disney surprises. Like this neat model ship! There’s even a game you can play with an app on your phone where you find a couple of Disney characters on board the tiny ship. There’s also an opportunity to take a picture with a Disney character dressed up in their nautical outfit!

We loved looking out to sea and taking pictures in the portholes of the ship!

Checking into our room was lots of fun! We loved all the little Disney details and the kids were so excited about their bunk beds!

Graham was in awe of this constellation mural on the ceiling above the bunk beds!

Exploring the ship was so cool! There are so many beautiful pieces of artwork and so many tiny details that only Disney would think of!

We loved participating in the Fish Extender Program! Click here to read more about the FE program and click here for a cute fish extender gift idea!

Of course, the Kids Club onboard is a blast! There are games, crafts, parties, movies, and more! Our kids went to the kids club each day of the cruise for a few hours and they always had so much fun!

Watching the beautiful sunsets outside of our balcony was one of my favorite parts of the cruise!

The daytime views from the ship weren’t bad either!

There are so many characters to meet onboard! You can check the Disney Cruiseline app to find out the times and locations, but you also might find a few characters randomly roaming around. We found Goofy one morning and he must have just woken up because he still seemed sleepy!

Of course, we loved the pools, the splash pad, and the AquaDuck – the amazing waterslide that circles the upper deck of the ship. I was super scared to ride it, but I’m so glad I did – it was a blast! Graham and Josh also loved it. Maddie was a little too scared this trip, but she promises she’ll ride it next time we go!

There are so many things we didn’t have a chance to try or check out. One – because there are just SO many things to do and two – because I was sick an not feeling up to it. We got to take a peek at all of the fun adults-only bars and clubs early on the second day of the cruise, but we didn’t actually get to visit them in the evening when they were open. Oh well. Next time, for sure!

The mini-golf course on the sports deck was a big hit with my kids!

Josh and I did a mixology class that, luckily, was scheduled early on the second day before I started feeling sick. It was really cool! We got to make 5 different drinks that were all super delicious. We also loved the opportunity to talk to some of the other guests during the class. The class was organized and coordinated by someone from the Facebook page for our cruise Fish Extender program, and it was awesome getting to meet everyone in real life! Our coordinator also took notes during the class and sent us the recipes for each of the cocktails so we can make them at home.

One of the other class members took notes for us so we could have the recipes!

Every meal time was fun! Look at the size of this bread! Click here to see more yummy food from the Disney Cruise!

Our waiter told jokes, did tricks – with his fellow candlesticks. (Name that movie!) He also did origami that the kids loved!

Our day at Castaway Cay was a blast. We hung out on the beach and played in the ocean.

Pirate night was fun! We saw the show, danced, and watched the fireworks!

We absolutely loved the cruise and I’m praying one day we’ll be able to go again. And praying I won’t get sick and have a fever the entire time!
