We love our PJ Family Movie Nights!
It’s an opportunity to sit back, relax, and let the tv babysit the kids.
Ha!
Seriously though, everyone in our family loves to watch movies. Even Maddie, who’s 2, will usually sit through an entire movie. Especially if there are fun themed snacks involved.
Last week, we watched Disney’s Tangled. You know we love our Disney movies! We’ve seen it before, but decided to watch it again since there’s a new series coming out on the Disney channel based on the movie. Had to refresh our memories of Eugene…er…Flynn’s smolder, golden flower spells, and the correct way to use a frying pan. (Spoiler alert – it’s not used for cooking!)
That afternoon, while Maddie napped, Graham and I attempted to do a little themed craft to go along with the movie. I’ll admit, I’m not super crafty, so I’m so glad I stumbled on this Tangled lantern craft. It looked easy enough for us to handle!
Graham wasn’t really into actually making the lanterns, unfortunately. He helped for a minute, and then decided to use scissors to cut out strips of pink paper to use as “lava” on his construction paper “volcano.” That boy cracks me up!
Once Maddie was awake, we frosted some of the leftover Funfetti cupcakes from the batch of St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes we made earlier that week.
To complete the Tangled themed night, we all had a bowl of angel hair pasta. Get it? Rapunzel – with the hair. Angel hair!
The kids loved the movie, of course!
Have you seen any of the Tangled series? We can’t wait to watch it!
Tangled Lantern Craft Directions:
First, take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half lengthwise. Cut slits down the folded side, about an inch apart.
Unfold, and roll the lantern up, gluing the short ends together.
Attach a handle at the top and add any embellishments. I used a Tangled sun printable that I found here.
Done!
So proud of you and Josh for continuing your commitment for making family time a priority. Reflecting on being a working mom of the 80’s.
Thanks mom! You were an awesome mama. I learned from the best. 🙂
