5 Ways to Prepare Your Backyard for Summer Fun
Summer break is almost here! There’s only one week of school left and believe it or not, I’m pumped! I know it won’t take me long to start counting down the days until school starts back. But for now, I’m looking forward to lazy mornings, lots of pool time, a couple of beach vacations, and spending more time with my kiddos.
(This post was sponsored by MissQuito Mosquito Control Company, but all thoughts and opinions are my own!)
To prepare for the long summer days ahead, I knew we needed to go ahead and get our backyard ready for fun. For years, our backyard has been an escape for us. When the minutes seem like hours and I’m exhausted and drained from entertaining my two wild things all day long, we head outside for a change of scenery and some sunshine. Kids need to be outside, and honestly, so do grownups! Going outside can do wonders for everyone’s mood when we’re grumpy and bored. And with summer break just around the corner, we need to make sure the backyard is ready! Here are some things we did to prepare:
1. We cleaned off the porch and patio furniture.
The pollen here in Georgia is just ridiculous in the spring. We gave our porch and the patio furniture a good cleaning and washed off all the gross yellow pollen.
2. We cleaned off the grill and firepit.
Our grill gets a ton of use during the summer, and it needed a good cleaning so that it would be ready to fire up. We also cleaned our firepit. Can’t wait for some yummy s’mores!
3. We accessorized our outdoor space.
I really am trying to live a more minimalistic life, but I couldn’t resist purchasing a few decorations for the back porch.
4. I stocked up on fun outdoor toys and games.
I grabbed a couple of buckets of chalk, some water guns, and a new sprinkler so that we’d have a few new things for summer fun.
5. We had the yard sprayed for mosquitos.
Maddie is a mosquito magnet – they love her for some reason! I tell her it’s because she’s so sweet. We decided to have the yard sprayed to make sure our family is protected from mosquitos all summer long. We used MissQuito mosquito control company and I was so impressed with every aspect of our service. They have to be one of the nicest companies I’ve ever worked with here in Atlanta! They’re woman-led and operated, and I think that has a lot to do with the quality of service I received. I love supporting woman-run and Atlanta-based businesses, and MissQuito is both! Their mosquito control solutions are tough on bugs and kind to the earth, and they offer same-day or next-day appointments for busy families. You can choose between a couple of different plans to keep your family safe all summer long or try a one-time treatment for quick relief from those pesky mosquitos with no long-term commitment.
MissQuito is also waiving the initial fee and giving you your first service FREE (a $134 value) when you use code ATLMOMS when you book! Give them a call at (770) 626-0789.
Now we’re ready for summer! What are you most excited to do this summer?
