We just got back from a much-needed escape to the beach!
We had such a great time soaking up the sun and making memories. I was anxious about traveling during the pandemic and prepared A LOT before we left to make sure we could minimize any exposure to germs. I thought I would share the steps I took and the different things I brought along and did to keep us safe. (Disclaimer – I’m not a doctor or a CDC scientist, and I don’t work for the WHO. I’m just a mom!)
Beach Recap and Traveling During the Pandemic – Steps We Took to Keep Safe
1. We rented a beach house as opposed to a condo or hotel room. I figured we would be able to social distance from other people easier in a beach house rather than a condo or hotel.
2. We drove instead of flying. Not sure you would be able to fly right now anyway! Luckily we don’t live too far from the beach.
3. I brought along lots of cleaning supplies to sanitize everything. When we arrived at the house, I went in first and sanitized everything. Here’s a great list of things to sanitize during cold and flu (or pandemic) season.
4. We purchased masks to wear during our bathroom break stops during the road trip. We got our masks from a local shop that is donating a mask to healthcare workers for each mask sold.
5. We went to the beach early in the morning and left if it got too crowded. Everyone we saw was careful to be at least 6 feet away from other people on the beach.
6. I brought all the food we would eat during our trip. Some restaurants were open, but we opted to eat at the house (or pack a picnic for the beach). We also didn’t try getting any take out because we’ve had terrible luck with take-out for the last few months! (Check out my meal plan and food packing list below.)
The cutest beach house!
I cooked so many meals in this tiny kitchen. There wasn’t a dishwasher, but we managed!
We all loved the outdoor shower! We actually never used the shower inside the house.
White Claws for the win! Have you tried the Mango and Tangarine flavors? So YUMMY!
