This post was sponsored by STL Locksmiths, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mom-brain is totally a thing. After 9 months of growing a person inside of you, then pushing this watermelon-sized person out of your most delicate area, and then not sleeping more than 3 hours at a time for 6+ months, your brain starts to exhibit some wear and tear. I actually used to be an intelligent woman. I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree. But I swear my 2 children have sucked all the brain-cells out of my head. God knows what’s left in there. I’m picturing some sort of shriveled up raisin.
Here are 10 stupid things I’ve done because of mom-brain.
1. Forgotten to put the meat in the crock pot.
This was my very first “mom-brain” fail. Way back in 2012, we invited my parents over for dinner so we could tell them we were expecting our first baby. The whole day I was looking forward to eating the BBQ ribs I had cooking in the crockpot while I was at work. Imagine my surprise when I got home around 5:30 to find that I hadn’t even put the meat in the crock-pot that morning! #mombrain
2. Wearing clothes backwards.
While I’ve done this a ton over the years since becoming a mom, I remember the first time it happened like it was yesterday. I had to go to FedEx to print something during my maternity leave and realized I was wearing my black cardigan inside out. Complete with the while deodorant stains on the arm pits for everyone to see!
3. Leaving shoes on the roof of the car.
When Graham was three, he had the coolest pair of Captain America light-up sneakers. He loved those shoes. Once, I put them on the top of the car so I could have both hands free to buckle him into the car seat when we were headed to the park. We drove all the way there when I realized I left the shoes on the top of the car! I drove back down the busy 4 lane road until I saw the sad shoes, laying in the road. I parked, looked both ways, and ran to retrieve them. Luckily, they were good as new!
4 Leaving sippy cups on the roof of the car.
I also left a sippy cup on the top of the car, but it didn’t have a happy ending like the Captain America shoes. That poor hot pink cup was smashed to smithereens.
5. Leaving coffee on the roof of the car.
You think I would have learned my lesson to not leave things on the top of the car…but I lost a cup of coffee to mom-brain before too. So, so sad.
6. Crazy socks on crazy hat day.
A few weeks ago the preschool had the kids participate in spirit week, where they dressed up according to what day it was. I sent both my kids to school on Tuesday wearing crazy socks. Unfortunately, it was crazy hat day.
7. Forgotten words.
“Sometimes I just feel so…so…what’s the word? Oh yeah – forgetful!”
8. Told the babysitter the wrong time.
One of the many joys of being a stay-at-home-mom is having to book and pay a babysitter for things like doctors appointments, hair cuts, and even your yearly gynecological appointment. A few years ago, I messed up what time I needed my babysitter and almost missed my yearly doctor appointment. Since our babysitter was closer to the office than my house, I had her meet me at the doctors office and watch my kids in the waiting room while I had my lady-parts checked. God bless that babysitter.
9. Getting locked out of the house.
I’m kind of embarrassed to tell you guys how many times I’ve locked myself out. My husband had to come home twice to let me in. After that, we started leaving a key out. I’m terrified there will be a time when the key goes missing and Josh is traveling and I’m completely locked out. Luckily, I know that there are some great locksmith companies around Atlanta, like STL Locksmith. They’ve been in service since 2012 and offer excellent service, professional technicians, and competitive prices.
10. There’s one more thing I wanted to add to this list of stupid things I’ve done because of mom brain, but I can’t remember what it is! #mombrain
That was truly awesome of that amazing babysitter to meet you at the doctor’s office! You can’t take kids into the lady doctor checkup!
We have the BEST babysitter!! 🙂
