Paint-Filled Egg Toss Easter Activity

Graham loves to get messy. Maddie loves to paint.

So when I saw this paint-filled egg toss Easter activity on Pinterest, I knew it would be a hit with my kiddos!

Paint-Filled Egg Toss

I used a knife to carefully crack the eggs open at the top, so there was only a small hole. (By the way, we’ve eaten a TON of egg recipes the past few weeks to prepare for this activity. Scrambled and boiled and fried – oh my!)

I washed the eggs out with hot water and soap and let them dry on a towel. I also washed the egg carton – we don’t play around with salmonella in this house.

After the eggs were dry, I poured a little bit of paint into each egg. We used Crayola Washable Kids Paint.

The original instructions said to cover each hole with tissue paper and glue it down so the paint color would be a surprise. I think that would be super fun, but I didn’t want to do all that extra work (#lazymom). So I just left the tissue paper off.

The kids took turns throwing eggs at a white canvas. Graham was actually pretty good at getting the eggs to crack and splatter. Maddie needed to get really close to get her eggs to break.

After we finished, I filled up the water table and let the kids make a huge mess with the leftover eggshells and mud. They were already messy – why not!

It was such a great activity and now we’ve got a pretty cool piece of art to hang in the playroom.
