I mentioned in the recipe for my caramelized onion bolognese that we served the sauce over homemade pasta. If you’ve never made homemade pasta – you should at least try it once. It’s not that hard – I promise! Our kids love helping us make pasta, almost as much as they love eating it!

Although on this day, Maddie was the only one interested in cooking. Graham decided he would rather play on the iPad. Silly boy.

We’ve always used the recipe that came with the pasta attachment for the KitchenAid mixer. It turns out great! (Although we use a tiny bit more water than the recipe calls for – just so the dough binds together easier.)

So much fun! Want to have your own family-fun day of pasta making? Here are the tools you’ll need:

The recipe included with the pasta attachment calls for just 4 ingredients – eggs, water, flour, and salt. And of course, you’ll need a yummy sauce to go on top! The process is simple, and really doesn’t take too long, when you consider you’re making enough pasta to have leftovers, or even freeze some for later.
