One of our favorite spring activities is strawberry picking at Washington Farms, a local strawberry farm.
The kids love running up and down the rows, filing up their buckets and sneaking a few of the fresh-off-the-vine-strawberries. After a few minutes, their clothes and fingers are stained with strawberry juice. And of course, I love cooking and baking with the berries. Strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry salad, strawberries with cream, strawberry jam bars – the yummy possibilities are endless!
Any time we go berry picking, it always makes me think of Graham’s favorite book – Jamberry. It was one of my favorites as a child, too, and we still have my old copy. The rhymes are super cute and I love the illustrations. The book always makes me hungry for berries!
This year, we did our strawberry picking on a Saturday so we could enjoy their “Super Spring Saturday” activities. There was so much to do! Wagon rides, a petting zoo, a cow train, a jumping pillow, a couple of slides, a corn box, and tons of other super fun things!
We had a blast!
